What is a burnout?
Burnout is a state of overall mental and physical exhaustion caused by longterm overwhelm at your workplace or/and other areas of your life.
Burnout can turn into a depression if you don’t see any hope of improving your situation anymore.
Burnout alone can be a major cause of infertility issues as it is difficult to create and sustain the pregnancy when our glass is almost empty.
These are typical signs for a burnout:
- You are completely exhausted
- You dread going to work and doing your daily tasks because you feel out of control regarding your work load and endless list of things to do
- You are unable to focus and your performance is suffering
- You are unable to experience happiness and you feel there is no light at the end of the tunnel
- You cannot find rest at home and your thoughts keep on revolving about all the things that needs to be done
- You are showing signs of physical impact such as ongoing headaches, stomach aches, back aches and more
If some or all of these have been worrying you for a while, you may be suffering from burnout. While being highly engaged is a good thing, feeling under the constant pressure can also lead to high stress and anxiety. Constant overwork combined with a lack of work-life-balance can cause emotional and physical exhaustion.
